In 1987, Dr. Elliott Bennett-Guerrero agreed to be featured in a PBS NOVA
documentary project that has since spanned over two decades of his career. Over the course of the documentary series, PBS producers followed his progression from his medical education through various career milestones. In conjunction with the most recent of five serial installments, Dr. Bennett-Guerrero and his wife were interviewed about various issues and perspectives. The doctor thoughtfully responded to interviewer inquiries about career balance, his work as a researcher at the Duke Clinical Research Institute, and how his professional experiences have impacted his personality and point of view. He and his wife also shared retrospective insights about marriage and role decisions within their family dynamic. Currently the Director of Perioperative Clinical Research at the Duke Clinical Research Institute, Dr. Bennett-Guerrero is pleased to make continuing contributions to his specialty of anesthesiology and critically care, as well as to the public’s perception of the challenges that physicians face in their daily personal and professional lives.
